31 Moo 7 Koh Lipe - Koh Sarai District. Muang Satun Thailand 91000
Located on the southernmost corner of Koh Lipe’s Sunrise Beach, Ten Moons Lipe Resort offers breathtaking sunrises that will brighten your day from the very start. Just steps away from the resort’s white, powdery sand beaches, you’ll enjoy stunning views of colorful wooden long-tail boats passing by and the serene, relaxing beauty of the Andaman Sea.
Koh Lipe is a small and relatively flat island, whose name means "Paper Island" in the local Sea Gypsy (Chao Ley) language. Also known as Koh Lipe or Ban Koh Lipe, it is located 60 km from the Thai mainland.
Koh Lipe is part of the Adang-Rawi Archipelago, a group of about 10 uninhabited islands, with Koh Lipe being the exception. This cluster of islands belongs to the larger Tarutao National Marine Park, a nature reserve established in 1974 as Thailand’s second National Park. The park consists of around 50 islands and spans 1,500 km². For more information about Koh Lipe, click this link.
With its three wide, white-sand beaches—Sunrise, Sunset, and Pattaya—and a handful of smaller ones, Koh Lipe offers the perfect escape. These beaches are separated by jungle-clad hills and are within a short distance of protected coral reefs, making the island an ideal spot for day trips to the surrounding islands. Long-tail boat trips are popular and highly recommended as the best way to explore the marine park.
Koh Lipe’s white sandy beaches are not only perfect for relaxing but also for snorkeling. Grab your snorkel, mask, and fins, and dive into the beauty of Koh Lipe’s underwater world. For the more adventurous, diving is a fantastic option, with several top dive sites nearby.
And that’s just the beginning—there’s plenty more to do! Koh Lipe’s main street, known as “Walking Street,” becomes a pedestrian-only zone from 18:00 to 24:00 during the high season, making it a lively and safe place to explore. Everything on the island is connected by small roads, and it usually takes just 10 to 20 minutes to walk between the two main beaches.
At night, most roads are lit by streetlights, but bringing a torch is a good idea if you plan to explore in the dark. Since 2013, official motorbike taxis with sidecars have been available, offering rides at a fixed price per person. You can spot the taxi drivers by their purple jackets and colorful motorbikes.
As Koh Lipe is outside the jurisdiction of Tarutao National Park, it is exempt from the laws and legislation that protect the rest of the park. However, the island’s rapid growth to meet increasing tourism demands has brought challenges, particularly in waste disposal and animal conservation. Various ongoing projects aim to keep Koh Lipe clean, and tourists can get involved—a meaningful way to spend a day and help the environment.
One such project is “Trash Hero Thailand,” which meets every Monday at 10 AM at Pattaya Beach. It’s fun, educational, and supports a fantastic cause!
